Crater Lake!!!!!!
So, this was park #4 on the bucket list for this trip. Unfortunately, we didn’t make one and three, Big Bend and Channel Islands respectively, but White Sands was an unexpected gem of a find. I’ve wanted to see Crater Lake for a long time, but whenever we’ve been in Oregon, it’s not to this part of the state. So, wasn’t going to miss it this time. Also, I read about the Old Man in the Lake in Sierra Magazine a couple months ago and was really hoping to see it, not even thinking/realizing that there was still a shit-ton of snow up there! Two of the three entrances were closed and even the one open was a bit of a tunnel through the snow. Didn’t see the Old Man, who now apparently has a wife called the Old Woman in the Lake, but hope to visit again sometime in the summer when we can get out on the lake. Still, it didn’t disappoint, although it was cold and some of us (Greg) weren’t really prepared for the wind! Thank goodness the beautiful weather is staying with us!
