Klamath Falls, Part 2
The trip to Klamath Falls was quite memorable, but the area around it, especially around the HUGE lake, was so beautiful and interesting that we traversed it twice! I had no idea how large the lake, Upper Klamath, really was, but it reminded me of New Zealand. It was really big, but mostly unspoiled and very few houses around it, except close to town, just like what we saw in New Zealand. On our last day there, we hung out at the resort and then took a drive back around the lake, just at sunset, which was spectacular, better than the photos I was able to take. Also, I loved how quiet it was, except for the birds chirping when I would stop to take a photo. I really fell in love with the area, but know it’s probably quite different in the winter and not so hospitable! Still hoping to go back to the resort, Crater Lake and Klamath Falls when it’s warmer, some day.
We got back to town just in time for dinner and to get Greg and Wanda to their train at 10 pm. We ate at a great bbq place, Wubba’s, and stuffed ourselves with all their meats and fixings. They had a family meal that consisted of ribs, pulled pork, brisket and half a chicken. We chose garlic mashed potatoes, beans, cole slaw and onion straws to go with their amazing corn fritters as the sides. Damn were we stuffed! When it arrived, I thought, “holy shit, we’ll never be able to eat all this”, but we put a very healthy dent in it and only had a small box for left overs (but it probably weighted a pound!). G&W had been treating us at most all our meals and this one was a real treat! Thanks again, Greg and Wanda!
