Falling for (In) Indio

It was later when we finally arrived in Indio, but the weather continued to be spectacular! I had hoped to jump off of I-10 and go into Joshua Tree National Park at the Cottonwood entrance, but it was nearly dark by that time. So, we unloaded as soon as we arrived at the Wyndham resort, ordered a pizza on line, picked it up, ate and hit the sack. Next morning I was scheduled for an owner update. Before that, though, I took Tiko out to do his business, but forgot my mask. I’m still not sure what happened, but getting off the elevator there were a couple women trying to get on. I was trying to maintain my distance and think I got tangled with Tiko or my new glasses just weren’t clear. Either way, in an instance, I took a fall and hit the concrete - hard. My watch immediately started vibrating and asking if I had fallen, if I needed 911 and was I ok, which was kind of cool. My knee and hand hurt most and after I got up, I limped back to the room. I called to let them know I had fallen and wouldn’t make it to the update. They were concerned and sent security to do an in incident report and bring me ice packs. It was a beautiful day, though, and we had planned to visit Joshua Tree NP, but my elbow started really hurting. I tried to find a clinic, but the only one there couldn’t do e-rays and said the doc would end up sending me to the hospital anyway. I called Annie since I needed to tell someone that cared and I couldn’t call me mom. She was great, gave me lots of good advice and I immediately felt better (at least I wasn’t crying anymore!) Since we hadn’t eaten, I found a DoorDash restaurant called The Broken Yolk that had a great family pack of breakfast burritos, guacamole, salsa, rice and beans. We ordered it and I iced my arm while waiting. I knew I was going to be spending the afternoon in the ER and wasn’t in any hurry to do so. After we sat out on the patio and enjoyed the breakfast, I left Tiko and Scott at the resort and headed to the hospital. They were really great, quick as they could be even though very busy, x-rayed me and after about an hour wait, the doc came out to say nothing broken. I was pretty sure nothing was broken, but I couldn’t bend my arm towards my face or head. I also couldn’t straighten it out fully. They gave me a sling and said to see my primary care physician if it wasn’t better in 3-5 days. Well, 3-5 weeks maybe…

This ought to do the trick!

Using all of it!

Once I got back from the hospital, I picked up Scott and we went shopping for all the stuff above. We picked up some groceries, too, but then headed to this wonderful, deserted dog park. Tiko had a blast chasing the ball and it was a good distraction from the pain in my elbow.

Beautiful GREEN dog park that we had all to ourselves!
